The Apostle Paul wrote:
“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.”
Romans 1:8-12 KJV
Writing from Corinth in his letter to the Christians at Rome
Paul felt led of God to go to Rome to share the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ.
If He was to be successful He would have to have assistance. One simply cannot carry out the Great Call of God that’s upon his life without the aide of trusted believers and friends to help him along the way.
Believe me, you don’t just call Rome up and say “hey, I’m coming!”
Lots of preparations would be required.
People with various talent and skills would be needed to make the trip a success.
So like the genuine Man of God he was , Paul began to sow seeds of lasting unity. ( we could sure learn from that today in our churches). How?
He prayed fervently for them. Remember many of them he didn’t even know. He’d never been to Rome and many of the Christians there he had never met.
Read Paul’s path to unity
found in verses 8-12.
It started by thanking God for them all!
He continued by building a bond between them by lifting them and their faith up!!
He assured them of his undying love for them and of his constant prayer for them. He said ” I make mention of you Always in my prayers”.
Then look at the heart knitter in verse 11…
“For I long to see you”….
Oh friend today, if there were one thing missing most in our fellowship today, it would be the earnest desire to be with each other. To share life together with each other . That’s where love’s Roots lie deep.
He nailed it down with the assurance that he wasn’t coming to impose upon them, but he was bringing a desire that his teaching would bring comfort to them, and establish them.
Can you feel the family of God bonding , uniting, knitting together in that letter?? It’s Love learning, plain and simple. Learning how to love one another.
If Paul was going to mAke it to Rome, he was going to need lots of help… And the only way you can assure yourself of having that needed support is to get those people to love you enough to want to help you. Enough to want that truth shared and willing to at any cost spread that Spiritual Truth to all that they could.
You know, that was 2k yrs ago. But it’s a lesson we all need to learn here today.
We need each other. But we need to love each other, more than ourselves. The God Of Heaven wants to spread His Gospel message all over. And we are going to need all the help we can get!
We’ve got to have help.
We’ve all got to love The Gospel message enough to put it first and foremost above all our other interests! It’s that vital!
It’s got to be carried on the wings of Gods Love throughout the body Of Christ.
Oh Almighty God today…
Let it become that way in my heart. Let my heart climb on those wings and carry us together throughout the body of Christ, to comfort and establish all…
Have a HeAvenly Day.
